PRIMABENE® castor oil from controlled cultivation is obtained through gentle cold pressing of the seeds of the evergreen Ricinus communis shrub. The seeds contain 40–50% oil. The oil obtained is colorless to pale yellow and has a characteristic, mild scent.

The seed has an oil content of 40–50%. The cold‑pressed castor oil is colorless to pale yellow. It has a species‑typical odor. The main ingredients of castor oil include ricinoleic acid (88.2%), oleic acid (about 4%), linoleic acid (4.5%), stearic acid (1.3%), palmitic acid (1.2%), and other fatty acids.
